Fergus Kane
Clinical Psychologist
My primary training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This, for most conditions, is the type of therapy that has the best evidence for helping people. In addition, I also practice 'third wave' versions of CBT such as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The exact type of therapy I practice with clients depends on their particular difficulties, needs and preferences.
I also draw upon the wider body of psychological therapy, including attachment, schema and psychodynamic based therapies.
Different forms of CBT have been developed to help with the majority of psychological difficulties. Before therapy starts, I conduct a thorough assessment with the client in order to be sure that we focus on the most important areas for the client.
